Termite Treatment

It is not uncommon to detect live termite presence during the inspection. At Pro Pest Control Canberra, we treat live termites with Termidor before installing a baiting system or barrier.

Termidor is an odourless slow-acting chemical that works by contact. After spraying live termites, they won’t die immediately. Instead, each termite will return to the nest and infect other healthy termites. The transfer effect will continue throughout the colony until every termite is infected, including the queen.

Termidor prevents moulting – a process termites need to mature. It will ultimately kill off the entire population after a few days. Termidor is also environmentally-safe. Itcontains no odour, and won’t harm humans and animals.

  • Physical termite barrier

We put up physical barriers during construction and renovation to block possible termite entryways. It usually consists of sheets laid over slabs or foundations. By blocking entry points, subterranean termites won’t be able to enter your house through the foundation. Sometimes, we put up physical barriers to make termite entry more obvious. This way, we can spray them when they reveal themselves.

  • Chemical termite barriers 

At Pro Pest Control Canberra, we use the number one termiticide – Termidor, for managing termites. We apply the chemical to the soil to form an unbroken barrier. More than repelling termites, the chemical utilizes a unique transfer effect to infect the entire colony. Once termites pass through the barrier, they will carry the virus back to the nest and infect other healthy termites.

We also install a termite reticulation system in places where we can’t drill. If you don’t want us to disrupt your paving stones and tiles, we will run a network of hoses alongside the foundations of your building. We will then equally distribute Termidor around your building to form a protection zone that keeps termites out.

Termite Baiting Systems 

Another way we manage termites is to use termite baiting systems. The bait intercepts termites in the ground before they reach and potentially damage your structure. Bait stations are a safe and great way to detect and eradicate termites in places where we can’t put up a chemical barrier.

We use Sentricon, Exterra, and Trelona bait stations. We load the station with cellulose-filled bait and Termidor and install them all over your property.

Once termites discover the bait, they will convert it into an active food source and won’t proceed into your property. After feeding on the bait, they will transport it back to the colony. Since we mix Termidor with the live bait station, it will eliminate the entire colony within a few weeks.
