Termidor for termite barrier 

Termidor is a termiticide that is effective at controlling termite populations in less than 3 months. Designed to work by contact and ingestion, the chemical is lethal to termites through contact with other Termidor-affected termites. Since Termidor is undetectable to termites, they will continue to forage and pass-through infected areas.

Termites will unknowingly cross treated areas, forage and pick Termidor-laced baits, and transfer it throughout the population. Over time, the unique transfer effect of Termidor Fipronil ensures the infection of the entire colony until all the pests are eliminated.

Different options 

Termidor is available in different variants – Termidor HE and Termidor SC, both from the BASF. They also both contain the same chemical – Fipronil. However, there are a few differences.

  • Termidor SC

This is the original Termidor version. However, it requires a high labour input to ensure that the barrier is effective. For example, the drilled holes must be close to each other. As a result, the technician may need to drill through the centre of tiles and not on grout lines – a procedure that can cause cracks or an eyesore.

  • Termidor HE 

The Termidor HE is an improvement on the few issues of Termidor SC. For example, we can inject it at a greater distance between drill holes without disrupting the landscape. The new version also uses Advanced Polymer Technology to distribute active ingredients horizontally and vertically. The polymer dissipates and allows Fipronil to bind to the soil.

  • Termidor SC

Termidor SC is the cheaper of the two. Since both contain the same active ingredient, the primary difference is how they spread and distribute in the soil. While SC requires more labour and closer injection sites, HE offers more flexibility.

$2 million warranty

Termidor has a life expectancy of 8 years in an ideal condition. It is also backed by a $2 million warranty with applicable conditions. An example of the condition is that it must be installed by an accredited applicator. The installation must also follow the Australian Standards AS3660.2.
